There are days when you have to question why you do anything at all. Days where you question the people you know, the city you live, the choices you’ve made, the life you have. Days when the idea of crawling into a cave in some remote God-forsaken place sounds like bliss. Thankfully, there are songs like this.

Some of my favorite kind of photography is that in which there are cinematic qualities. Images that might have a shallow depth of field, a bit of grain to them—where it’s like a still ripped from a story. Enter Olaf Wipperfürth who not only has a hilarious name, but is one talent of a photographer. His framing of subjects is fantastic as is his use of color. The paint with that scarf?! Or the photo below where all the skin matches the tones of the wood, but there’s that punctuation of her blue scarf and yellow hand? Or the paisley dress? I’ll get a boner over things half as good as that.

And as a bonus fun-for-me-moment: homeboy in the photo is using my camera. High five!

I can’t figure what I’m more fascinated with about the above picture; that it’s the closest and most detailed picture of a sunspot ever taken; or the fact that it looks exactly like Sauron from Lord of the Rings. As J.R.R. Tolkien was essentially my girlfriend from 6th grade until I finished high school, I’m leaning towards the latter. Midget bro love has never been written better. They weren’t gay. They were hobbits.

Kanye just dropped this like an hour ago. I’ve had it on repeat ever since. This is the second track off of a five-song album he’s putting out with Jay-Z entitled Watch The Throne. Mind you, that’s in addition to his upcoming album. Say what you will about the man, but he puts in work and constantly puts out the como se dice? The illest?

Reid Miles’ amazing Blue Note album covers recreated… IN 3D!!!!!!! Seeing good type done with video is refreshing. It’s usually so half-assed and slapped on—especially with subtitles. Man On Fire got it right, though. Somebody needs to rip this idea off and make their movie’s opening titles in this fashion. I would pay multiple American dollars to see that.

For some reason, I always think that Cee Lo is just a really short fat martian but gee golly is he able to make some catchy tunes. His latest video is fantastic and terribly NSFW in the area of hilarious profanity. And though it’s a little late on the typographic After Effects movement, the video is really well done and utilizes some lovely condensed type.

But seriously, try not to giggle at the back up singers’ gold digger parts.

I’d like to think that the way this song came together was like a love story. Slowdive made the first move by asking Washed Out what brand wayfarers he was wearing. From there, a romance blossomed. Violens captured the whole moment from behind a dune on his vintage 8mm—from which content he created this lovely love.

This is a gem of a short video done up by Henrik Hansen. The editing and sound design in particular are superb. Listening to Kimura talk is pretty inspiring. His bikes are beautiful and through the film, you can see how much care he puts into his craft. It’s who he is. Now if he could just ship one of those babies over here, it’d be just peachy. Riding one would make me such a badass that I’d be able to get away with using the term “peachy”.

So apparently Myspace is still relevant in some way as they transmit music somehow. This is old, but it came on my iTunes last night and I stopped what I was doing, sat back, and took a swig of my gingerale (always chilled, never on the rocks). If Justin Vernon were sitting on my couch with me, I would have hugged him. It would have been awkward and one of those weird sitting-2/3rds-turned-man-on-man hugs, but it would have been really nice.
